Cross Country Individual Results for the Season 2005 to 2006

There are two really pleasing things about the cross country season that has just ended.  First of all, we had many more runners taking part than last year – and enjoying it, even if they were “mud-haters” in the past.  It has proved to be good fun and a good team event, and if we can just get one or two more runners next year (especially one or two more ladies) then we will be able to field a full team each time and improve our team position still further.  As a team, we finished 6th out of 9 which is a big improvement on our last place the previous year.  It was pretty close between the 4th and 7th placed teams so we have a chance to improve again next year.
The other great thing about this year was the good results by a number of runners, especially some of the newcomers to cross country : Nicky and Brenda won prizes for being third overall in their age-groups while Sharon narrowly missed out in 4th place and Bryan improved steadily through the season.  It was also good to see some of the more “experienced” runners doing well, with John winning his age-group and Bob in 3rd place in his, while Sid was able to run for the first time in years.

Final individual results (women – best 5 races, men – best 4 races) were :

Thanks to all those who competed and helped during the season and remember to do some road racing during the summer so that you will be fit for the next cross country season in the autumn.   Roger.
