In 2018 the number of SGP races is reduced from eighteen to ten and there are several modifications to the rules.

2 lap course: woods. Will be muddy if weather is wet leading up to the event. Suitable for spikes butt there is some gravel path.  Leaflet Map Risk Assessment

3 lap course: Downland undulating. This is not usually muddy.  There is about 200metres on each laps which is quite stoney

One lap, undulating suitable for spikes.  Can be very muddy.

2 laps,  there is some tarmac so not suitable for spikes. All Juniors 2 miles.  This is a private estate with game birds so NO DOGS are allowed on the estate.

One lap course: fields and woods. Likely to be muddy Suitable for spikes. Refreshments and Season awards presentation afterwards.  

 Remember: if you have registered for all races in advance, you need to re-use the same number at each race.  Please remember to bring it with you.  Those registering on the day will be given a new number for each race.
The main race is at 10.30 am and each race is about 5 miles.  There will be a junior race at all the races which will be at 10.00 am which is about 1.25 to 1.75 miles.

If you have not pre-entered all races before the start of the season (£10.00 for all 6 races) you can enter on the day for £4.00 (plus additional charge of £2 for insurance if you are not a member of an England Athletics affiliated club).  You do not need to be a member of one of the participating clubs but the pre entry for all races is only open to members of participating clubs as listed on the clubs page.

There is no charge for juniors if they are members of an affiliated club or under age 13: charge of £2 for insurance if you are not a member of an England Athletics affiliated club and age 13 or over.
If you are entering on the day it is recommended you arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of the race. Please see Rules tab for further information on entry and on Team and Individual results.

Locations:   ( Each year 6 races are selected so not all of the below locations will apply to the current season )

Abbots Wood: signposted off the A22 between Hailsham and Polegate and is also signposted off the A27 at Wilmington.

Ashdown Forest
: King Standing Car park: take the A26 south out of Crowborough. After 3K, pass the Crow and Gate pub on right, then in about 600m turn the first right (signposted Duddleswell & Nutley). In 2K turn right at crossroads onto the B 2026 and the start is in about 800m on the right.   Map.

Blackstock Farm, Grove Hill, Hellingly, East Sussex BN27 4HF (Well signposted on the country road between Hellingly and Horam: it is on the Hellingly 10k route.. Map

Cross In Hand
: By the Petrol Station at Cross in Hand on the A267 to West of Heathfield.

Firle Beacon: Parking/Registration is in the Public Car Park on the South Downs Way about 1 mile to the West of Firle Beacon OS Grid Ref: TQ468059.  Access is from the A27 only.  Please share cars where possible.  Do not confuse with Bo Beep car park which is east of Firle Beacon.

New Place Farm:
Pump Lane, Framfield, Nr Uckfield, East Sussex, TN22 5RH, Pump lane is off the B2102 between Blackboys and Framfield (on the right just after Framfield if travelling from Framfield to Blackboys). Map

Pett Village Hall, Pett TN35 4HD: Pett Village Hall is located just off the A259 between Hastings and Rye: A259 to East of Hastings take Pett road to right.  Map.

Snape Wood, Wadhurst: Free Parking at Uplands Community School, TN5 6AZ (grid ref. 641317).  Registration is close to the start/finish in Snape Wood which is about 1 mile from the parking.  A mini-bus, or two, are available for runners and accompanied persons and priority is given to those with children. To walk jog to the start from School turn right onto the B2099 (Ticehurst Road), take first right into Brinkerís Lane. At the T junction turn right (still Brinkerís Lane) and continue down the hill and the Snape Wood entrance is Ĺ mile on the right. A track leads to the start and is parallel to the railway line.  Allow sufficient time to get to the start.

Warren Hill
From Eastbourne take the A259 out of Eastbourne; up the hill, pass the golf course on the right and the road levels out. Take the first turning on the left onto B2103 continue until you see the car park on the right side of the road. From Seaford//EastDean - Follow the A259 down into East Dean and up the hill the other side.  At the top of the hill turn right onto the B2130: continue until you see the car park on the right.

Whitbread Hollow: West end of Eastbourne Seafront.  There is a path to the left, heading in the direction of the sea, by the cafe, after Bedes School at the end of the seafront which takes you to the start.
